How to Switch TRT Clinics in the UK: A Step-by-Step Guide
TL;DR
- You can switch TRT clinic if you’re not happy with your current one. Many clinics have a route for patients already on treatment.
- Gather three things first: details of your current treatment, your latest blood test and the blood test from before you started TRT.
- Don’t cancel with your current clinic until the new one has confirmed everything, and don’t stop or change your treatment on your own.
- Add up the whole year before you move. Monthly prices leave out different things at different clinics.
Who wrote this: Evernu is a UK TRT provider and we take on patients moving from other clinics, so we are not a neutral judge. The steps below reflect how switching works with us. Other clinics may ask for different things, so check with the clinic you’re moving to.
Why men switch TRT clinic
These are the reasons we hear from people getting in touch about moving:
- Cost: a monthly fee that looks fine until blood tests, consultations and supplies are added on top.
- Clinical care: being passed between prescribers, or not knowing who reviews your results.
- Communication: slow replies when you have a question about your treatment.
- Monitoring: no clear plan for when your blood tests are due and what they cover.
If one of these sounds familiar, you don’t have to stop treatment to fix it. Here is how to move.
Step 1: Gather what you need
A new doctor needs to see why you started treatment and how you’re doing on it now. Have these ready before you get in touch:
- Your current treatment: the medication, your dose and how often you take it. Your most recent prescription or treatment plan is ideal.
- Your most recent blood test: the latest results from your current clinic.
- Your blood test from before TRT: the one that first showed low testosterone.
Can’t find your older results? Ask your clinic for a copy, because they may still hold results you can no longer see in your online account. You also have a legal right to a copy of your personal information, and the Information Commissioner’s Office explains how to ask. If you still can’t get them, tell the new clinic, as its medical team can tell you what your options are.
Step 2: Compare the whole year, not the monthly price
Before you commit, ask each clinic for a total that includes:
- any transfer or first consultation fee
- monitoring blood tests and how often they are due
- follow-up consultations and dose changes
- injection supplies and delivery, if you use them
Also ask who prescribes for you, how you reach the team and whether there is a minimum contract. Our comparison of 10 UK TRT clinics shows what each one publishes, and our guide to how much TRT costs in the UK explains why totals vary.
Step 3: Start in good time
Get in touch a few weeks before your next renewal with your current clinic. That leaves time for your results to be reviewed and your consultation to happen without any rush.
Step 4: Have your results reviewed and meet your new doctor
The new clinic’s medical team reviews your results and history, and then you have a consultation. Your new doctor makes their own decision. They may carry on with your current plan, suggest a change or ask for more tests. If your recent results are valid and complete, you may not need to repeat them.
If you do need a new blood test, ask the clinic when to take it, because the timing can affect the result.
Step 5: Leave your old clinic at the right time
Wait until your new clinic has confirmed everything before you cancel. You will normally need to cancel your existing service yourself, so check:
- whether there is a notice period
- when your next payment is due
- whether any medication is about to be sent to you
Once you’ve moved, let your old clinic know, and make sure only one clinic is prescribing for you.
What about medication you have left?
Tell the new clinic how much you have. If you have a lot left, the simplest option may be to carry on with it under your current arrangements and move nearer the end of it, so you aren’t paying for two services at once. Your new doctor will advise what’s right for you.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stopping treatment while you wait. Don’t stop or change your treatment without speaking to a doctor.
- Cancelling too early. Keep your current arrangements in place until the new clinic has confirmed your plan.
- Leaving it to the last minute. A rushed move is more likely to leave you waiting.
- Comparing monthly prices only. A cheaper monthly fee can cost more over a year.
- Not keeping your own results. Save a copy of every blood test, wherever you’re treated.

Frequently asked questions
Will there be a gap in my treatment?
If you start in good time and keep your current arrangements in place until your new clinic has confirmed your plan, there shouldn’t be.
Do I have to repeat my blood tests?
It depends on the clinic and your results. With us, if your recent results are valid and complete, you won’t need to repeat them. Your clinician will tell you if anything needs checking again.
How long does it take to switch TRT clinic?
It varies by clinic. With us, if your results are recent and your treatment is stable, you can often be approved and have your first delivery on its way within days.
Can I change the type of treatment when I switch?
You can ask. Your new doctor will decide whether a change is suitable for you. We offer injections, cream, gel and tablets.
What if my current clinic won’t share my records?
Most clinics give you your blood results, or you can request them. If you don’t have recent results, a new clinic can arrange the tests you need.
